Acrylic and Gel Nails - What are they?
Acrylic and Gel Nails create a beautiful glossy nail to either your existing nail, which are
commonly known as 'Overlays', or as 'Acrylic/Gel Tips' which are used if you are unhappy with the
length of your existing nails or if you have uneven nails.
How long do they Last?
You will need to have a fill in every 2 - 3 weeks (maximum)
What's better, Acrylic or Gels?
Depending on how you are with your hands depends on whether you are more suited to Gels or
Acrylics. Acrylics are a lot tougher so are more suited to most people, especially if you're heavy
handed (this minimises the risk of breakages) and Gels are more suited to clients who want
to have a more flexible feel to their nail. Compared to Acrylics breakages are more common with Gels but
Gels have a higher gloss finish. Quintessential Beauty can offer Acrylic Nails with a
Gel Overlay to create a perfect look.

Gel Overlays: Fingers £30, Toe Nails £25 (highly recommended - these
toes will last you all summer!)

Do they Damage your Natural Nail?
No, the Acrylic or Gels will not damage your natural nail as long as they are applied correctly.
Typically, problems occur when:
Your natural nail is filed away using an electric drill
Your natural nail is over filed
Lifting occurs due to poor application and bacteria develops at the site
(although not common)
You leave it too long for in fills and lifting occurs causing bacterial
growth and infection
You do not remove the acrylic or gel correctly with the solution required.
